Review:

Kids are jerks. But then the boy makes crow sounds and they're all sorry? Weird.

Message:

Don't be a jerk to people because they might have weird talents.

I liked how the Uncle never smiled, because that's just the way he was. "I truly believe that cake equals one thousand smiles."

Review:

Fascinating but confusing illustrations. I've never been a fan of the story: famous batter ignores first two balls, strikes out on third. Hubris lays him low.

Review:

Fantasy story with non-romanticized Native Americans. A ten-year-old boy goes to the lake where the buffaloes are said to emerge from? live in? and yells at the buffalo as they come out, inciting them to stampede around him harmlessly as he runs back towards his village, where they trample some enemies that are retreating from his village.

The Garden of Abdul Gasazi

Fable-like. Nice illustrations. A boy is tasked to take care of a nasty dog, and when he takes it for a walk it runs away into the garden of a magician who hates dogs. The boy follows and apologizes and asks for the dog back, but the magician has apparently turned it into a duck.
