Mama Bear doesn't give Sister any actual advice or think about what kinds of situations she could get into, only tells her that she has "responsibility." What that responsibility is, is never mentioned. Is this like Spider-man? Is she supposed to catch criminals?

"[T]here were Indians in Minnesota--tame ones." "One time he came to the town where my father's mother lived and fought Satan there." "When my father was very young he had two dogs and a colored boy." Wow. 1940 was a very different time. Oh, I see why it won an award. *Two* dogs died. Basically the story of the author's parents and grandparents. The interesting part is what he chooses to include.
